Private, flexible, and affordable financial tools.

My Retirement Model was created by Brian Cooper to offer practical retirement-planning and personal-finance alternatives that keep assumptions visible and personal data under the user’s control.

Private and locally controlledMinimize unnecessary data collection and keep personal financial information in files and locations the user controls whenever practical.
Flexible and transparentLet users test realistic assumptions and household situations instead of accepting one unexplained estimate.
AffordableOffer useful free tools in many cases and pursue modest pricing for products that require ongoing development and support.
IndependentBuild alternatives without affiliation with government agencies, financial institutions, advisory firms, or legacy software providers.

Why this exists

Retirement and personal-finance decisions depend on assumptions that are often difficult to see clearly: future earnings, Social Security filing dates, inflation, taxes, pensions, withdrawals, spending changes, investment values, and household timing.

My Retirement Model is built around a simple idea: keep important assumptions visible, preserve user control, and make it practical to compare realistic scenarios instead of presenting one unexplained answer.

More than a Social Security calculator

The free Social Security Estimator was the first public tool, but the broader goal is to provide lower-cost retirement-planning and personal-finance alternatives:

  • Social Security Estimator: a free browser-based tool for individual, married-household, divorced-spouse, and survivor planning scenarios.
  • MRIE: a Windows, macOS, and Linux retirement scenario application currently available as a free limited beta evaluation by request.
  • CP-Finance: a simpler, less-bloated, lower-cost personal-finance manager in active development.

Privacy and security direction

The tools are designed to keep personal information local whenever practical. The Social Security Estimator runs in the browser without an SSA.gov login or Social Security number. MRIE stores scenario files and reports where the user chooses. CP-Finance is being built around user-controlled application files and file-based imports.

No software can promise absolute security, but the design goal is to minimize unnecessary online data handling, explain required communications clearly, and keep the user in control.
